THIS 1880’s CONDIMENT SET, 3-PIECE DELICATE WHITE MILK GLASS PINK & GREEN FLOWERS E – PIECE MILK GLASS CONDIMENT SET (CASTOR SET) MADE IN THE US.
This outstanding 3 – piece set replaced the salt sellers of the early and middle 1800’s. This type of set was advertised by Dithridge as early as 1894 in CHINA GLASS & LAMPS. In this page advertisement, Dithridge boasted that they have the largest line of Opal Glass (Milk Glass) Salts, Peppers, Molasses Cans, Caster Sets, and Tooth Pick Holders. In 1898 Eagle Glass & Manufacturing Co. featured an entire page advertisement of 3 – Piece sets. Eagle sets became extremely popular and outsold the former leader

Eagle Glass worked to develop many of the new sets that as shown in advertispictures. With this proof in CHINA, GLASS & LAMP, JANUARY 26, 1889 we know that Eagle Glass company made this set. After 142 years we can not expect everything the be perfect. A beautiful part of this set is the artistry of the pink & green flowers. With all the washing of the set, it is amazing that the original paint is still outlining the flowers.
This is an excellent quality piece.
The longest point on the tray is 4 1/8 inches, and the width of the tray is 3 1/8 inches. The two bottles have medal tops. The tall bottle is 3 1/4 inches and the shorter bottle is 2 1/4 inches. The weight of the set is 6 ozs.
Please note that all of my items are antiques and will have normal flaws from manufacturing or hand making processes.
